Inca Dream started through our love of Alpacas. We started breeding Alpacas in 2000 as Hayne Alpacas and in 2002 as Alyndale Alpacas, and have exhibited at many agricultural shows over the years.
At these shows we realised that there was a market for beautiful Alpaca products, hence Inca Dream was born! All the products we sell are made from genuine Alpaca fibre.
We no longer exhibit at the agricultural shows as, in November 2010, we opened a shop at Eggesford Garden Centre in North Devon and would be delighted to meet you there.
We are open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm, we are closed on Mondays, except Bank Holidays.
About Alpacas
Alpacas and Llamas belong to the South American Camelid family, and while Llamas were traditionally bred as pack animals, since the times of the Incas, Alpacas have been kept primarily for their fleece.
Alpacas produce a superb, heavy fleece of fine, strong fibre. Alpacas' luxurious fibre makes wonderfully fine, silky soft and warm garments – and in Inca times was reserved for royal use and decribed as "the fibre of the gods".
The Alpaca's fleece comes in 22 recognised natural colours, ranging from white, through the fawns and browns to grey and black - white can be spun and dyed any colour.
The Alpaca adapts readily to a wide range of climatic conditions and the UK is no exception. Easy to rear and handle, their soft tread makes them ideal for UK pastures. They all have individual characters and look out for other members of the herd. They require company and cannot be kept as single animals.
